John is not just an expert in commercial law – he’s also a respected business confidante and adviser.
He specialises in contract law, intellectual property and company law. He has a particular interest in the Agribusiness sector having come from a family which has farmed for over 100 years on the same property in Otago.
Whether it’s drafting contracts, advising on business processes and structures, intellectual property issues or handling commercial and rural property transactions, John ensures his clients get the best legal outcomes.
"Being a true adviser goes further than being a lawyer in a technical sense. It comes from building relationships and earning a reputation for getting the job done,” John says. As a result a lot of his relationships span multiple generations of the same families.
Away from the office John is heavily involved with corporate governance, as a director and trustee for a variety of local companies, crown organisations and charitable trusts.
