A fairly enormous piece of steel has gone into the Vogel Street side to frame the atrium entrance. I am told that this is the baby brother to the one that will go on Cumberland Street!
The atrium walls are also going up, with plenty of openings punched in them to add a bit of spice and some interesting views.
Friday was a milestone for the new building with the installation of the first of our signs on the outside, facing Cumberland Street. Luckily, it was a windless day, perfect conditions for a delicate operation. Coming across the overbridge this morning on the way to work I was glad of a bit of a jam on the bridge!
Last Thursday we had an all staff event in the new building, a chance for our people to see how the building is coming along. For a bit of fun we made a Gallaway Cook Allan song, splitting into teams to come up with lyrics and then recording them in a makeshift studio. The event was facilitated by the very excellent Breesy (www.breesy.co.nz) and the Polytechnic catering team provided "Roadie" food. Wine Freedom completed the deal.
Here are a few pics from the evening and a short video will follow as soon as it is ready. The master of the song itself is under lock and key in the Gallaway Cook Allan safe.
